Solomos Museum

Dionysios Solomos, the National Poet of Greece, lived on Corfu for a big part of his life till his death in 1957. Here he wrote the major and the most important part of his work, including the "Free Besieged". The house where he lived in was destroyed by bombing during the Second World War, but was later restored and exists till nowadays. It now houses the museum and the Centre for Studies on Solomos.

In the house you will see the poet's desk and his autograph. There is also a collection of photographs related to places, people and events in Solomos' life. There is also a collection of his books, which includes all editions of the "Hymn to Freedom", as well as a series of portraits of the poet and of members of Solomos School.
